Society of Editors (SA) is a branch of IPEd and the lead organisation for editors and editing in South Australia

The Society of Editors (SA) supports editors in South Australia and runs activities for IPEd members such as regular meetings and professional development programs. The society continues to host this branch website, produces a quarterly newsletter and maintains social media. IPEd maintains an Editors Directory, which you can use to find an editor with particular skills and experience. The society’s Freelance Register will be maintained and will link editors to potential employers or clients until the end of June 2017.

Manuscript assessment workshop

With Connie Berg

Saturday 25 March 2017, 9.00 am to 1.30 pm

Venue: Intersect, 167 Flinders Street, Adelaide
Cost: $80 (members); $60 (concession); $132 (non-members)
You can book here, or respond to a member email about the event. Bookings close Wednesday 22 March. Spaces are limited.

About the workshop:

This workshop will cover:
  • the basic mechanics of good writing so that you can better identify which parts of a manuscript can be improved
  • the language of writing so that you can give constructive feedback to an author in a professional manner.

You will also learn about:
  • the components to address in your client pre-meetings
  • how to provide useful assessment reports.

The presenter:

Connie Berg is an experienced manuscript assessor. She also works with writers as a mentor, editor and publisher. She teaches in writing workshops, and is a writer herself. Many of her short stories, poems and articles have appeared in magazines, anthologies and newspapers.

Connie co-founded the Langhorne Creek Writers’ Festival and has been the festival organiser from its inception in 2013.

In 2014 she founded and is the publisher of Sunshine Press, a print-on-demand press, which has published nine titles.

Connie has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with members and we are delighted to have her lead this manuscript assessment workshop.

If you are a member, you will also receive an email notification for each event, including details of how to RSVP for the event and (if applicable) how to book and pay.
