Annual General Meeting
Thursday 27 August

SA Writers Centre, 187 Rundle Street, Adelaide

6.30 pm refreshments for 7.30 pm start

25th Birthday bash for the Society of Editors (SA)

At this year’s AGM, the formalities will be kept to a minimum and the celebration of 25 years of the Society of Editors (SA) to a maximum. All past members of the Society are invited to attend and share their memories of past achievements.

For planning purposes, please let us know if you intend to come to the 6.30 pm refreshments and the 7.30 pm AGM by registering at http://agm2015.eventzilla.net

There will be refreshments at 6.30 pm and at 7.30 pm we will start the formal proceedings.

As always at the AGM, current committee members will stand down. Then the Chair will call for nominations for the 2015–16 committee. You don’t need experience to be a committee member. But you do need to be a financial member and:
  • enthusiastic about the profession of editing
  • passionate about the potential to advance the profession
  • prepared to offer some time and contribute your thoughts.

Committee members are elected for one year, but can be re-elected for as long as they wish to serve. Specific positions are allocated at the first committee meeting. It is not necessary to take a lead role. You might like to take on specific jobs such as organising a speaker for a general meeting or keeping the website up to date.

The committee meets at 5.30 pm monthly at the SA Writers Centre. Subcommittees meet every three months to brainstorm and plan.

Benefits of being on the committee
While you’re involved in shaping the future of the profession, you will also:
  • explore different perspectives on the profession
  • be able to add your role to your CV and count it towards re-accreditation
  • learn life and career skills
  • get to know other members
  • participate in decisions about relevant professional development for Society members
  • take advantage of networking opportunities.

Please nominate yourself or someone else, or have someone nominate you, before the election at the AGM on Thursday 27 August. If you nominate someone else, the person you nominate must agree to the nomination.

Please read the minutes of the 2014 AGM before attending the meeting.

The evening will conclude with the sharing of stories about the achievements of the Society, past and present: a cake-and-champagne celebration of 25 successful years of support for editing and editors in South Australia.
